A company with Boots' reputation wouldn't (or rather shouldn't) risk ruining their good name over a few quid. Take your payslips for the periods in question and discuss it with the law centre or local citizens advice bureau, they should have the right sort of guidance - and in case it gets dirty, keep a written record of all attempts you've made to resolve it internally.
