What happened in this situation?

I met a guy who lives 12 hrs away from me, and we would chat on and off via Facebook. Not able to make it back to see him, we pretty much stopped talking to eachother because it was hard to make a spark. I was thinking of deleting him as a friend to pretty much move on, and also make him notice... but he beat me to it. I found this very odd... do we have like telepathic abilities? har har.
